I have created a private public space. A garden that belongs to nobody – Everyone’s and at the same time, Someone’s. The piece consists of common garden fencing that encircles seven existing trees, dog roses, meadowland and a sculpture. You can lock the door from the inside; there is no key to the outside. The fence encircles and creates a sort of sanctuary. A place that changes with time, where the boundary between the tamed grass and the wild meadow will come to be more obvious with the years.

I have been inspired by the novel The Secret Garden, written by Frances Hodgson Burnett in 1909. The book belongs to the public domain and can be downloaded as a audio book from http://librivox.org/.
